I Slipcasted and distributed small, ceramic houses onto College Avenue in Oakland, California to bring a sense of home to the people that busily commute through that area.
The project was exhibited as part of a group show in Kansas City, Missouri at Across the Table, Across the Land, NCECA 2015.
After hand crafting the original forms from clay, I created plaster molds of the form so that it could be quickly and consistently reproduced.
A liquid clay slip is then poured into the plaster mold and allowed to dry.
The house shapes pop out as they firm up
Directions inside of each ceramic home guided their finder to socially interact with the idea of "home" and what it means to them. Using #projectfindhome, participants uploaded images of the clay homes with their individual perceptions of what was important to them.
